Una vez que Cristóbal Colón desembarcó en Cuba le pareció tan grande que creyó haber desembarcado en China continental. Al oír hablar los indígenas de Cubanacán, “el centro de Cuba” en lengua nativa, pensó que hablaban de “Kublai Khan”, el antiguo emperador mongol radicado en China.
