Para la escena de la muerte por picadura de abeja en Mi chica (1991), la producción usó miles de abejas reales sobre Macaulay Culkin. Para atraerlas, le cubrieron las manos con perfume de abeja reina. Tras el corte debía correr hacia el bosque para escapar.

El apicultor me dio un consejo: ‘Los humanos corren más rápido que las abejas vuelan’. Y yo le dije: ‘Pero si tengo 10 años. ¿Qué tan rápido crees que soy?’
